Hardware wallets: best practice for big funds
Hardware wallets (Ledger, Trezor, etc.) keep private keys offline. MetaMask can act as a bridge to such devices: the keys never leave the hardware, MetaMask only requests signatures. This gives strong protection against browser malware and phishing pages that try to capture secrets.
How to integrate
Connect your hardware wallet via MetaMask’s “Connect Hardware Wallet” option. Register both primary and a backup key if you hold large sums. Use the hardware wallet to sign high-value transactions while using a software wallet for smaller daily operations.
Seed phrase storage
Treat the seed phrase as the ultimate backup: store it offline, consider a metal backup for fire/water protection, and keep only a minimal number of people informed about its location (preferably none). Never enter your seed phrase into a website. If you must restore, do so only in the official MetaMask UI or on your hardware device.
